Xiamen Rail Transit

Xiamen Rail Transit (XIAMEN RAIL TRANSIT), also known as Xiamen Metro, is an urban rail transit system serving Xiamen City in China. It uses Putonghua, Taiwanese, and English as trilingual voice broadcasts. It is the second city in Fujian Province to have a subway. It aims to improve the ability of public transportation throughout and beyond Xiamen Island. Xiamen Rail Transit is a state-owned company Xiamen Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd., which is wholly owned by the Xiamen City Government and is responsible for the construction, operation and management.
Xiamen city planning long-term urban rail transit network consists of 6 lines, a total length of about 246.2 kilometers, set up 138 stations, of which 19 transfer stations. At present, the civil engineering works for the rail transit line 4 have been completed and will be temporarily used as Xiamen BRT. On May 11, 2012, the “Urban Urban Rail Transit Construction Plan for the Near Future (2011-2020)” was approved by the state. Xiamen Rail Transit Line 1 was started construction on November 13, 2013. It is planned to be completed and put into trial operation in 2017.
